Artificial Intelligence in the EHDS Era: Shaping the Future of European Healthcare

Brains ICS proudly participated in Athens Digital Health Week 2025, a landmark event that brought together visionaries, policymakers, and innovators to redefine the future of healthcare.

One of the most anticipated sessions of the week, the panel discussion on “Artificial Intelligence in the EHDS Era”, was hosted by the Human Health Intelligence Organization, partnering organizer of the conference. The panel underscored how AI will be central to the European Health Data Space (EHDS), empowering data-driven decision-making, improving patient outcomes, and fostering a new culture of trust and innovation in healthcare.

The session was opened by two distinguished keynote speakers: Irene Agapidaki, Alternate Minister of Health, Hellenic Republic and João Breda, Special Adviser to the WHO/Europe Regional Director, World Health Organization

Both emphasized the urgency of adopting forward-looking policies and robust governance frameworks that ensure safe, ethical, and impactful integration of AI into health systems.

The panel examined the cultural, ethical, and strategic transformations required to unlock the full potential of AI in healthcare.

Representing Brains ICS, Nikos Iosif, CEO and Founder emphasized the need for entrepreneurial vision and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure AI becomes a practical enabler of healthcare reform, not just a technological aspiration, and Maria Misendou, Head of Business Strategy, NDP Projects and Corporate Communication highlighted the importance of strategy, communication, and trust in driving AI adoption within European healthcare ecosystems.
