Integrating AI into Cancer Care

Jul 2, 2025

The Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELLOK) recently hosted the 2nd Forum on Cancer Synergies: Policy, Research and Funding Strategies, placing a strong emphasis on one of today’s most transformative healthcare topics: the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into cancer care.

Speakers underlined that AI adoption in oncology is no longer theoretical but a tangible reality for Greece. The country is now able to implement these technologies with safety, sound evidence, and coherence. Importantly, participants stressed that AI must be ethical, transparent, and human-centered. “Technology is a means, not an end. The real goal is for patients to feel they are not alone,” was a key message echoed throughout the Forum.

A distinguished panel of experts — including George Kapetanakis, Alexander Berler, Stefanos Kollias, Charalampos Vassiliou, George Vasmatzis, Demetris Gerogiannis, Eleftheria Hatzimichael, and Pantelis Natsiavas — shared perspectives on ensuring AI remains a trusted ally for both clinicians and patients.

We were honored that Iosif Nikolaos, CEO and Founder of Brains was invited to participate in the panel discussion. His contribution enriched the dialogue with valuable insights on the responsible integration of AI in oncology, underlining the importance of collaboration between research, technology, and clinical practice.

The Forum concluded with a clear consensus: in this new digital health era, cancer patients are not statistics but the primary beneficiaries of innovation, care, and collective action.
